HPP has been documented all over the world, and while the exact numbers of those affected are unknown, it is thought that the severe cases appear in approximately 1 in every 100,000 people born. The exception is a Mennonite community in Canada (Winnipeg region in Manitoba) in which 1 in every 2,500 babies are born with the severe form of HPP. Soft Bones has established relationships with other organizations dedicated to the disorder including groups in France, Germany and Japan.
