Information That We Collect

We collect information from users through several points on the Site, such as registering with the Site, making a donation, requesting information, or participating in softbones.org discussion boards or forums. However, we only collect and retain contact information for you as a visitor if you voluntarily supply us with this information.

On some pages of the Site, you can make requests, register to receive materials or provide feedback to us. To fulfill these requests, we may ask you to provide personal information, such as your name, address, birthdate and email address.

We collect personal financial information in the form of a credit card number and expiration date only if a user wishes to make an online donation through the Site or wishes to purchase products through the Site. All online transactions are securely transmitted using SSL encryption, and we use various third party transaction services to process online payments and donations.

We only use information submitted through the Site for the purpose for which it was collected. If you voluntarily provide us with this information, you consent to the collection and use of your personally identifiable information as described in this privacy policy.

How We Use Information That We Collect

The primary reason that we collect user’s personal information is to provide personalized options to Site visitors and to respond to visitor inquiries and requests. We will not use or share your personally-identifiable information other than as described in this privacy policy without prior notice and an opportunity to opt-out pursuant to this policy.

In certain limited circumstances, we may share personal information with third parties. For example, we may release personal information to third parties to perform services on our behalf such as advising you of our upcoming events, products, partnership offers, volunteer opportunities, or processing credit card payments. We may also contact you with more information about our organization and those of others with whom we may have a business relationship. If you would like to opt-out of having us share your name and postal address with third party organizations, please contact us in the manner described in the “Contact Us” section of later in this policy.
We may also disclose information when we have a good faith belief that such disclosure is
required by law or legal process or otherwise requested by any law enforcement or agency acting under color of law. We will not sell your information to any third party other than in connection with a sale of all or a significant portion of our business.

Public Forums

Message boards and community forums may be available to visitors of the Site. The forums will identify visitors as requested by the visitor. Please remember that any information you disclose in these areas becomes public information that may be collected and used by others. As such, please be cautious when deciding to disclose personal information.

Cookies

We may monitor and obtain your Site usage information by installing a “cookie” or similar tool on your electronic device. This allows us to recognize repeat visitors to the Site, compile data and personalize your experience with the Site. Our cookies do not give us any information regarding your usage of any service other than the Site.

This privacy policy applies only to the Sites. The Sites may contain links to other web sites not operated or controlled by us (the “Third Party Sites”). The policies and procedures described in this privacy policy do not apply to the Third Party Sites. The links from the Sites do not imply that we endorse or have reviewed the Third Party Sites. We suggest contacting those Third Party Sites directly for information concerning their privacy policies.

Children’s Privacy

We do not intend to collect personally-identifiable information of or from children under the age of 13 years old, and we do not collect or maintain information at the Site from those we actually know are under the age of 13.
